Tom Wagg discovered a planet 1,000 light-years from Earth and he's only 17.
The student has been completing work-experience coursework at Keele University in Staffordshire, United Kingdom through the WASP program (short for Wide Angle Search for Planets)
According to a news release from the university, Wagg cleverly managed to spot the unknown planet when he was 15 by "finding a tiny dip in the light of a star as a planet passed in front of it." It has taken two years of analysis to confirm his discovery
