Australian commuter charged $2.7 million for using public transport

An Australian woman apparently owes the state's public transport organisation A$2.7 million. That is one expensive tram trip.


Melbourne commuter Sarah Cole tweeted an image of her myki public transport card receipt on Thursday, which shows a balance of -$2,684,350. The 36-year-old discovered the heart-dropping inaccuracy when she checked her balance at a station



Not being able to afford the "ridiculous" debt, Cole's main concern is being sent to prison, she jokingly told The Age


"I don't want to go to jail. When Alan Bond went to jail he had debts in the billions," she said. "Maybe it will be a nice retreat and I will come out a hardened white collar criminal." Read more...
